Another important duty on the human resources manager’s job description is strategic workforce planning.  This is a key element in ensuring that the business strategy is balanced by the talent needed in the different job categories. Having the best staff available to do the job is vitally important in a competitive business environment.   Without that, a company will not be able to achieve superior business results.

The human resource manager must also have good leadership ability.  They should be able to connect with staff, and motivate them to perform at optimum levels.  In times of difficulty, they must be able to coach sector leaders. Their ability to communicate with internal and external personnel is also important.

Human resources manager must also be able to take full advantage of new recruitment systems. New recruits are now being gained via social media platforms, as well as by employee referrals. The focus is on hiring the best talent from these and other sources. The human resource manager must ensure that the jobs that are critical to overall business success are filled by top candidates.

If a company is to maintain profitability, then it must come up with a coherent strategic plan that will give it a competitive edge.  That plan must be spearheaded by key players in the organization, including the human resources manager.
